Jason Lowenstein, Ph.D.
Senior Manager- Wind Resource and GIS
Jason developed a proprietary GIS screening process which allows OwnEnergy to efficiently conduct in-depth, early-stage, desktop feasibility studies. He also oversees the in-house wind resource efforts—which include met tower installations, turbine layouts and wind resource assessments—and supports the origination and project development teams at all stages of the process.
Jason completed his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Physics at The University of Leeds, UK. His thesis was focused on quantifying the production of warm rain forming in shallow cumulus clouds in the Caribbean. Most recently, Jason appears as the primary author of a scientific research article published in the Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society- acknowledged as one of the world’s leading meteorological journals.
Prior to his Ph.D., Jason received a master's degree with distinction in Earth and Atmospheric Physics from The University of Leeds. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Physics from Skidmore College, NY, where he graduated Salutatorian and summa cum laude.
Jason is an avid snowboarder and enjoys spending time with his wife and family.
