Site Screening
A windy site is not necessarily suitable for wind power development. Developers need to consider many factors, beginning with an initial site screening. OwnEnergy evaluates potential sites internally through the completion of a GIS Desktop Study, where the following factors are investigated:
- Wind resource potential
- Proximity to transmission lines and nearby substations
- Accessibility
- Amount of developable area (site capacity in MW)
In addition to the items listed above, many other areas are explored in detail to confirm that the proposed site is a worthwhile candidate for development.
